Setup & tips

Your MONOTAP arrives ready to use, already programmed with your link. Here’s how to get the most out of it.

Tap it the right way

  1. iPhone: hold the keychain near the top of the back of the phone, close to the camera. The screen must be on. A banner appears, and they tap it.
  2. Android: hold it against the middle of the back of the phone. NFC must be turned on (Settings › Connected devices › NFC).
  3. Hold still for about one second. Don’t swipe.

Nothing happened?

  1. Make sure the screen is on and unlocked.
  2. Remove card wallets, metal cases or magnetic rings from the back of the phone.
  3. On iPhone, close the Camera and Wallet apps first, because they block tag reading.
  4. On iPhone 7 to X, open Control Centre and tap “NFC Tag Reader”.
  5. On Android, check that NFC is switched on.

Change your link (free, about 1 minute)

  1. Install “NFC Tools” (by wakdev) from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Open it and go to Write › Add a record › URL / URI.
  3. Type your new link and tap OK.
  4. Tap “Write” and hold your MONOTAP to the phone until it says done.
  5. Test it with another phone. That’s it!

Look after it

  1. Don’t leave it on a car dashboard in the sun. Like most 3D-printed plastics, it can soften in high heat.
  2. Wipe with a damp cloth. No need to remove the chip, it’s sealed inside.
  3. If it ever stops working, message us. We’ll sort it out.
